A traditional, crisp and fresh, citrus tinged Cava with a touch of bready richness from a small family owned winery in the heart of Cava country.
 
2) NV Sergio Rosé, Mionetto, Valdobbiadene, Italy £23.00
This terrific pink sparkler shows an aromatic nose of grapefruit, blueberry and raspberry fruit alongside faint hints of rose. The palate is soft and rounded with a touch of cherry fruit and an impeccable balance of freshness and fruit on a very long finish.
 
3) NV Louis de Custine Brut, Champagne Medot £35.00
Clean, crisp and fresh with a delicate yeasty complexity, this is the perfect House Champagne.
 
4) NV Esprit Brut, Champagne Henri Giraud £55.00
Champagne Houses are not usually known for hiding their light under a bushel, but Henri Giraud are no ordinary Champagne House. They use premium oak from specially selected forests, (just like Bollinger and Krug), and make Champagnes of an impeccable pedigree from organically grown grapes. The quality is second to none and we can only urge you to try it.

The soft and rounded character of the Merlot is given a bit of added depth and backbone by the Petit Verdot to produce a well balanced wine that is full yet approachable.
 
22) 2008 L’Etoile du Midi Merlot/Syrah, Francois Gimie, VdP d’Oc, France £17.95
Francois Gimie is an immensely likeable chap who makes immensely likeable wines. 60% Merlot & 40% Syrah make up the blend giving a delicious, approachable wine with a juicy, rounded palate and great balance.

This superb Pinot Noir shows soft strawberry fruit, a great rounded mouthfeel and terrific length...very appealing!

This is Rioja at its precocious youthful best, with intense raspberry and black cherry fruit overlaid with a flourish of vanilla and coconut. It is beautifully balanced, medium weight and cushioned by fine grain tannins.

This terrific blend of rich, spicy grape varieties is one of our all time favourite wines displaying a robust character and enough fruit to effortlessly carry the 14.5% alcohol – a true winter warmer.

3 months in oak give this wine a bit of depth and structure whilst still allowing the rich, dark berry fruit of good Malbec to shine through.
